The American Election:  The Opinion of Kokusai Students
 
Dear Mr. Walsh
  I think Bush is an imperialist who likes war. He started the war for the oil companies, and only thinks about his own needs. If he is elected again, he will probably start another war. If I could vote in the American election, I would vote for Kerry because he probably won't start another war. Some say that Kerry's ideas don't make sense and he may be bad for Japan-America relations, but I think the most important thing is to stop war.
  Many people died in Iraq and it is very sad. The Iraqi people had nothing to do with the war. Wars kill huge numbers of people and I don't think Bush thinks human life is precious.
  Japan, and many other countries know first hand that war is sad and meaningless. The Japanese experienced the nuclear bomb and want peace in the world very much. The Self Defense Force should not have been sent to Iraq. If things continue like this, Japan may have a draft again, and bombs may be dropped on Japan again.
  Instead, Japan should concentrate on giving humanitarian aid to developing countries. Japan should have its own ideas about how to make a peaceful world instead of following big companies and America. The average citizen needs to know more about the world situation. Citizens are stronger than presidents. Citizens can do anything. Love is everything.
