Brazil

Brazil is the biggest country in South America. It's famous for the Amazon rainforests in the North and it's big cities. In terms of the environment, the rainforests are very important for Planet Earth, but they are being burned away to grow cash crops. It is a problem. In terms of people there are many different types. In the big cities society is modern, but Brazil also has very primitive cultures still living they way they have for ages.
Today, we will do the quizzes from number 2 in the textbook: "It can't be helped". Marcio says that in Brazil the family is very important and couples talk to each other a lot. He says that people in Brazil are more open than in Japan, but in Japan people are more polite in public. The quizzes are longer than before, so let's work hard!

Deforestation: one direct link to developed countries:
deforestation > genetically modified (GM) soya bean fields > feed for cattle (cow food) > McDonald's
(Also for chickens > Kentucky Fried Chicken)

Also = industrial farms and global trade > small farmers can't compete and move to city > slums increase (relative poverty)
