Some information about China.

  A long time ago, China was very poor. There was a revolution in 1949. Mainland China became communist. The old rulers went to Taiwan. Taiwan is capitalist. Both countries call themselves 'China'. Taiwan is much smaller than mainland China. Taiwan trades with many countries.

  Hong Kong was a city that belonged to England. England gave Hong Kong back to China in 1997. Hong Kong is a very big city. Hong Kong was capitalist. Now it is a 'special zone'. Shanghai is also a very big city and a 'special zone'. Ling Ling, who we will study about, is from Shanghai.
